My dilemma lately is finding my perfect bubble of space for meditation. Currently, I am in the market for a new meditation pillow, but the ones that I have found have not called to me the way I was hoping they would....this made me think about how much I love to sit on the ground, and how wonderful sitting in beanbags made me feel when I was a child. I am in love with these massive beanbag chairs! A lot of life is spent sitting in different types of chairs, but when do we ever take a break from the ordinary, and relax in a beanbag? In my opinion, not nearly enough. Now, my little city apartment may not look like it could fit a big ol' bag, but I would be more than willing to minimize and purge for this addition! What do you think?

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. - Albert Einstein
When I feel as though the World is off kilter a bit more than usual, I try and remember this simple quote from my man Albert. There will always be battles to fight... it's up to those great spirits to lead by example, no matter what the battle may bring.

I love giving soap as a gift, and I also like receiving it. Although, when I take a moment to think about it, I do realize that it is a bit of a funny gift to give....here, take this soap and clean yourself... hmm...
Never the less, I do still like soaps and the habitual behavior that comes with it...warming sink water, wetting your hands and the bar, crossing the bar back and forth in our hands, rubbings the layer of soap through your fingers and around in a sort of circular manner and rinsing hands off with the same movements used to put the soap on...
Real soap is made from natural products such as animal fats and oils (like vegetable oil, palm oil, safflower oil...). Further, they are very effective cleaning agents and they have a minimal impact on our environment. These soaps (pictured above) come from a great soap shop on etsy that you should check out. Buy a bunch and store them as quick gifts to have on hand for those last minute invitations or activities!

...have you ever had those nights where thoughts are swimming rapidly through your mind... swimming and swimming...where no mental dam is big enough to stop the rapids from rushing through, and you have no choice but to surrender to your crashing waves of thought?... I have had a lot of these nights lately.
Just when I thought I was doomed to sleepless nights and sleepy days, I figured out a helpful way to calm my own mental rip-tide... maybe someday my little method may help you.
I go back to the basics... taking in what is around me. For example, last night I went through all of my senses...how nice the taste of my mint toothpaste was that still lingered in my mouth...how soft my blanket felt against my bare arms... how the gentle light of the moon seeping through the bedroom windows seemed to warm space around me...and how the distant sound of cars on the road made me feel safer somehow....
Eventually, these thoughts bring me right onto the shores of slumber... peaceful, calm slumber ... have a restful night wonderful ones...

I have been trying to convince my grandfather to go on short walks with me for as long as I can remember. He has knee issues and does not make it very far due to pain... How I would love for him to benifit from walking... Check out this article I found in the NYTimes, and spread the good word about walking! Be an advocate of health for your loved ones. As we know, walking is fabulous for all ages, and taking the time to walk with another is a special gift worth taking advantage of.

Groundhogs day past yesterday and the news was a positive surprise... When the Groundhogs head came up, he was not able to see his shadow. That means spring is around the corner!
Looking out of my window at the aftermath left by the Blizzard of 2011 makes it hard to remember what Spring even feels like. To help warm my memory, I have taken some time with my photo albums from past seasons....this made me realize something so simple and yet, so important. That is, if you want to find something, you have to look for it. Take some time out of your day and look for something you miss. Like the groundhog and his shadow, it may just be the bit of goods news that helps you hold on through even the most bitter of weather.

Jonathan Adler Mugs
Mugs Mugs, Mugs, Oh how I love you mugs! I have always wanted to collect something interesting and intricate like cake platters, model air planes, silver spoons....but nothing has ever grabbed my attention like a mug. I believe mugs are like little love bubbles. They tow the fluids that hydrate us and usually have a handle on their sides (I mean there is not much better than that really). Jonathan Adler has done wonders with ceramics, and I am in love with his mug collection! They are made as pairs, such as captain with sailor, cowboy with Indian, and utopia angel with devil mug. If you like mugs, you may just fall in love with these. I know I have.
Blizzard of 2011 is here, and Ballou is ready to play. As I sit on the couch with John, we watch a documentary while the snow falls. We can see it from the window next to us. There is no rhyme or reason...no pattern to the way it dances. Today, I am going to dance like the snow. There will be no rhyme or reason, but it will be beautiful none-the-less.
...Take the time to dance today and enjoy the beauty of a blizzard...
